Ladies, this is a must have as part of your skin care regiment. After realizing how chemical sunscreens irritated the heck out of my skin I went down the internet rabbit hole in search of a mineral/physical sunscreen. I’ve tried nearly everything on the market, and found them to be either too drying, too greasy, or too chalky (i.e. left white cast on skin). Until I stumbled upon this! I did my research on this product and loved what I was reading. I called around a few places and found it at a spa close by.
About 10 years ago, I got serious about sunscreen. (Something my mother has been on me about for what seems like a life time) But me being the sun goddess that I was, never listened. To me it defeated the whole purpose of getting a tan. I didn’t want to block the UV rays, I wanted to be tan! Buy now that I am older (with a few fines lines to spare-eekkkss!) There are a few things that I’ve learned: 1) Do not leave home without it or you could and will get wrinkles, sun spots, or worse, cancer. 2) There are chemical sunscreens and physical ones. 3) Physical ones leave behind a greasy, ghastly white sheen and should be avoided unless it’s Halloween and you’re going as a ghost. (lol) Well, that’s what my experience had been so far, until I tried SkinCeuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense SPF 50. When I went to the spa the woman helping me recommended that I try it right off the bat. (funny because that’s why I was there) She explained that physical sun blocks have come a long way and, in her opinion, offer longer-lasting UV protection, I was curious and after trying it on, I was sold.
Neither white nor greasy, this lightweight liquid comes in a “universal tint” that adapts to your skin tone. How amazing is that? I don’t know how this magical feat happens, but I can tell you that this SPF blends in extremely well with my skin tone (pale) and the spa lady’s skin tone as well (olive). It absorbs almost instantly (no more waiting around for your sunscreen to soak in) with a silky, almost matte finish. While it layers well under my makeup the coverage is actually so nice that on good skin days, I’ve been skipping my usual foundation/powder application all together.
I found Skinceuticals Physical Fusion is the perfect middle ground between them all. It’s thin, easy to spread, with a slight tint. Rain or shine, at the beach or at work, this sunscreen is a part of my daily skin care regimen, and should be in yours too.(or at-least some sort of SPF)
This sunscreen is a bit watery which threw my off at first because something with such a high SPF normally comes out tacky and gooey but this is far from it, and the best part is that there is no white cast at all either! When you put it on, it kind of sinks into your skin immediately and leaves this nice finish. In fact, if you wait it out by another 10-15 minutes (say, do your hair or change into your clothes) the whole sunscreen dries into an almost powdery finish that allows you to skip your whole face makeup routine all together and go ultra-minimal on your makeup which is a time saver in my book!
