“YoDerm” Review; Treat your acne without leaving your home

You might be wondering the same thing that I was when I first heard the words “YoDerm”.  Initially I thought it was a product and was very excited about doing a review for them. And then I found out it wasn’t a product but an actual website. Still curious, I proceeded to do the review because let’s face it, we all know how depressing and devastating acne can be.

Acne may appear on the skin, but its effects can go much deeper, even causing depression in some people. Severe acne can have a significant impact on social relationships, and affect a person’s confidence and self-esteem in a way that can be pretty debilitating.

Most women can use makeup to cover up some facial flaws, but if you have a case of serious acne, you can’t completely hide it. And what about men? You may feel that you have no way to conceal your imperfections from a world that judges you based on your appearance. To a lot of people, appearance and social acceptance are often particularly important and acne scars can have lasting effects on ones self-confidence and self-image.

I went online and looked up looked YoDerm and did my normal research prior to signing up with them and read some pretty great things. Signing up was easy breezy!  Which it nice. A lot of companies have difficult websites and tons of questions for you to get through before you can actually get anywhere. YoDerm was different.

Why it was important to me to do this review: Because as a teen my acne was horrible and I remember how bad I felt and because lately my skin (be it the Weather or my age-hormonal) has been going bonkers. Sometimes I actually feel like I’m in high school all over again. Oh yay, the dreaded pimple memories!

Being a Beauty Blogger I know the Do’s and Don’ts of skin care like the palm of my hand. But for some reason these last 6 months have been horrible on my skin and nothing I do seems to be working. (hence the hormonal breakouts) I drink a lot of water, eat right, exercise, get plenty of sleep, don’t touch my face with my fingers that have come in contact with many objects throughout the day, yet still have the occasional break out. I decided I needed a better plan of attack. If my Acne was going to be stubborn, then I was going to be stubborn right back!

After reviewing all of the information I could find about YoDerm, I signed up! For those of you who have never heard of YoDerm let me give you some insight to this company:

YoDerm is a site where you have access to a real U.S. board-certified dermatologist for a low fee of just $59.00  That’s a great price for what your actually getting. Where else can you see a dermatologist for just $59.00?  And get a personalized treatment plan made just for you with NO in-person office visit required. Talk about saving time & money!

I have been to a dermatologist a few times in my early 20’s and typically it takes forever to even get an appointment and once you do get one you are in and out of the office so fast you can’t even remember what the doctor told you!

Instead with YoDerm, you simply sign up, answer a few questions about yourself, give whatever additional information about your skin that you want to the doctor to know, take a few pictures and submit.(I took my pictures on my iphone, emailed them to myself and then uploaded them from there) Pretty simple right?  The doctor takes a look at all the information you send them, analyzes your pictures and prescribes what you need to get your skin back on track. (prescriptions are sent to the pharmacy of your choice-and you pick them up)  It’s really convenient, especially when you just don’t have the time or the money to visit a dermatologist in their office.

Dr. Aimee Paik emailed me the next day with my personalized treatment plan.  Which consisted of the following:

Gentle cleanser
Benzoyl peroxide 2.5% gel

Gentle cleanser
Tretinoin 0.025% cream

  • Sunscreen is the most important thing you can do to protect your skin from aging. I recommend sunscreen spf 30 or higher every morning and protective hats when outdoors.
  • The tretinoin will help with the overall tone and texture of your skin, and it may help with fine lines.

I went into my pharmacy picked up my prescriptions with no problems at all and started my treatment that day.

Overall, I am very happy with the personalized service that YoDerm offers, the product recommendations, and Rx treatments prescribed for me. I would highly recommend trying out the service if you need some help getting your skin back on track and under control. If you want to try it out, here is my referral link: YoDerm Referral Link  Just click on it to sign up and you’ll get $20 off the service and I will get an Amazon gift card. 🙂   (They even reward their customers for spreading the word-you can’t beat that!)   Once you sign up you can also give your friends $20 off their first consultation and get a $20 Amazon gift card for every person you refer.
