Many of you have asked me if there is one hair growth formula better than the rest, or one that stands out to me. In my previous Blogs I have posted product reviews on both Keranique and Nioxin and found Nioxin was the better bang for the buck with out the reoccurring monthly charges.
This product review is on a product called “Rapid Hair Growth Formula” By Model Supplies. Its made up of several really good ingredients. Before I give you my review I want to give you some background on the ingredients in this product:
Black Castor Oil: Black Castor oil is composed of several fatty acids. In reality, these acids are bound and therefore do not really behave like acids at all (note that you cannot pH an oil as it does not dissolve in water). The dominant fatty acid in castor oil is ricinoleic acid. Black Castor oil is known to increase thickness and fullness in hair.
Biotin: Biotin is important for not only your hair but also your body. Biotin helps turn the food you eat into energy and also helps you have healthy eyes, hair, skin and nails. Biotin deficiency can cause hair loss as well as thin, brittle and splitting hairs, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. Since biotin is part of the vitamin B group, it helps maintain healthy hair. Biotin is well known for hair loss reduction.
Horsetail Extract: Horsetail is a member of the Equisetaceae family. The type used in cosmetics and shampoos most often is Equisetum arvense L. Horsetail descends from the huge, tree-like plants of the Paleozoic era some 400 million years ago. Closely related to ferns, horsetail is a non-flowering weed found throughout North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
It’s a great product for hair and skincare treatments due to the silica and minerals contained in horsetail. Horsetail stems are imbued with ample silica and silicic acids; in fact, it contains the most silica known in the plant kingdom. Silica forms collagen, a protein found in the skin, bones, cartilage, ligaments and connective tissues. Silica also helps bind protein molecules to many tissues in the body. The silica content helps strengthen weak, brittle, damaged hair, giving it vitality and shine with regular use.
There is a high mineral level as well including potassium, selenium and manganese. Those with very dry hair should take note: Horsetail has a powerful antiseptic property which means excessive use could further dry out your hair. On the other hand, the astringent herb helps eliminate excessive oiliness for those with oily scalps, and also aids in removing styling product build up. Used in shampoo and conditioner horsetail is a useful remedy for dandruff, eczema, psoriasis and other troubling skin ailments. Because it promotes circulation, horsetail assists in nourishing and strengthening hair follicles.
Copper Peptides: Copper peptides are small segments of copper proteins that are tiny enough to easily penetrate the skin. Dermatologists and other medical professionals have long recognized the potential benefits of copper for skin and hair care. Exposure to sunlight, other environmental hazards and free radicals all contribute to the decline in the skin’s appearance that is associated with aging. Copper peptides have unique properties that can slow the effects of aging on the skin. The copper works with vitamin C to promote the growth of elastin and collagen, which give skin a renewed and more youthful appearance, the authors point out.
Because hair is just a variant of the same tissue that makes up the body’s skin, it’s not altogether surprising that copper peptides have properties that help keep hair looking vibrant and healthy. GHK, a naturally occurring Copper Peptide Complex, is widely used in the treatment of hair loss and post-hair-transplant maintenance. Copper Peptide product has promoted hair growth in patients using the product for wound healing, It is also found that the product strengthens existing hair. follicles.
OK, now enough about the ingredient background, let’s get down to business. Now that you know the richness and full potential of the ingredients here are my findings:
The product arrived in a cleaver bottle. The reason I say cleaver is because its a very oily substance. The bottle is like that of an Elmer’s glue bottle making it very easy to apply directly to the scalp or any other target area.
After reading the product direction and expectations the first thing I noticed is the tingly feel it gives your scalp. Almost like several little men hard at work scurrying to repair the hair follicles. It wasn’t bothersome or itchy at all, in fact it was kind of pleasant in a strange way. I know a lot of us think that if we don’t feel something when we apply a product it means it isn’t working. (which is not always the case) But, it is a mind thing non the less.
Your supposed to apply the product at night before you go to bed because when you are asleep is when your body is in “rest” mode (which is very true) So far I’ve used it 3 nights in a row. My advice is that you use a towel over your pillow case, and old pillow case or even a shower cap because it does tend to get every where. The next morning, my hair was still very oily. So don’t use this product if you don’t have time for a good washing the next day. (save it for when you do) Keeping in mind consistency is key as with any product you use.
After I washed my hair, blow dried and styled it I did notice my hair felt extra smooth and shiny. If this is the result after just a few days of use, I will put up with the messiness! The notice on the listing does say it can takes several weeks to a month to really see good results, however, I noticed them right away.
My personal opinion of this product is that it is right up there with Nioxin as far as quality is concerned. The cost is $38.00 for a 3 month supply which averages out to be approx. $13.00 per month for hair care. (Not bad) compared to Nioxin at $22.00 for just a one month supply. Although the products are very different, Nioxin being a shampoo and conditioner and Rapid Hair Growth being a treatment, your saving approx. $27.00 with this product.
- Please note; I don’t usually post my product review until the very end, because let’s face it you really can’t get a good feel for the product or anticipate the outcome of the product until you have used it all, but this time time I’m making an exception only because I noticed a pretty significant change only in a few short days. Everyone is different and result’s may vary, but for me this product seems to be working and is cost effective, so I do recommend trying this product.
